Current Information:Age-32 SDGW-FAITHFULL 1, Glenister Road, Greenwich Dartmoor Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France 18th Division, including 11th Royal Fusiliers of 54 Brigade, arrived in France at end of July, 1915 and after a period of training moved to the Somme area, recently take over from the French Army. On 15th December, 1915, 11th Royal Fusiliers left their billets in Morlancourt and moved into the nearby front line trenches D2 where they stayed until 24th December. The Battalion Diary records that on 18th December, 1915, the Germans were “very active with rifle grenades and trench mortars” and presumably it was these that caused the death of Private Faithful. |
